P.P. HIRJIBAPA KI JAI AND P.P. VIRJIBAPA KI JAI

Looking at the history of our gathering for the past 30 years in the United Kingdom. I consider myself to be extremely lucky and blessed by our Momai Mataji with the inspiration and a thought of gathering all Vadhers of the UK to pay our respect to our Kul Devi Momai Mataji together and offer Nived.

I firstly contacted Mohanbhai regarding the idea of Nived gathering. He said idea is good but depending upon the support we get. I approached Bachukaka, Sidibapa, Chagankaka, Kabakaka, Mohankaka and many other elders to sound them out regarding the idea. The response was so positive and they all gave their blessings for such gathering. Mohanbhai agreed and we choose the venue in Leicester because it would be central for the brothers travelling from the North and the South. We decided to send out the invitations to all known Vadhers in the UK

I remember sending a hand written draft to Naranbhai Parmar who had Gujarati typewriter to type our first letter of intent to hold NIVED which was sent out in 1989. I have a copy of such letter.

The first invitation with red powder marks. (Kanku chati ne lakhi Kankotri) which was sent out in July 1990 for the gathering at RUSHEYMEAD RECREATION CENTRE 215 Gleneagles Avenue Leicester On the 2nd day of September 1990 and the rest is history.

In the initial years the front row used to be full of our elders and our brothers and their families from all over the uk exceeding 350 members. Many have departed to the heaven and some younger members have not been able to attend due to their circumstances. Therefore the attendance number has dwindled yet all Vadhers have equal respect for our Matajis and ancestors who look after us very well.

In 2012 we held a world gathering of Vadhers in Tukda India where we celebrated opening ceremony of the Temple of our Momai Mataji and Gatral Mataji which stands in Tukda in India as a symbol of unity of the Vadher Brothers in the UK.

We had support of the Mayor of Tukda Mr. Gigabhai who provided excellent facilities whilst upto 5000 people attended over a period of 3 days celebrations.

As I always say this day is a very especial in my calendar and I look forward to meeting my whole family and jointly pay our respects to our Kul Devi Momai Mataji, Gatral Mataji, our Dadas and all ancestors. We do prayers Nived play Garba do Aarti and have Maha Prasad. This can only happen with God’s grace and our Ancestors blessings. We all should be very very proud to say that we have kept the tradition going for 30 years and God willing it will go on for another 30 years and ever. I sincerely hope and trust our younger brothers will be inspired by our Matajis and Dadas to continue to organise this gatherings for ever.

We are what we are because of our Matajis, Dadas and Ancestors and when we think of them we remember our roots, traditions, culture, religion, language and above all our identity.

I very firmly believe and has been saying for years that the only persons who can keep our traditions, culture, religion etc going are our daughter-in-laws who raise Vadher generations and teach our children our traditions culture religion and put habit in them to respect our Matajis Dadas and Ancestors.

This does not mean that we do not love and respect our Vadher sisters and daughters. Our sisters and daughters will always be our sisters and daughters and they will be free and welcomed to visit us and even attend our Nived gatherings with their family. But our advice to them are to settle in their new families and traditions and respect their Ancestors. Mix up with their married family like sugar in the milk lose their identity of Vadher but keep the quality so that like when anyone drinks the milk can enjoy the sweetness and when they talk about your family they can proudly say to their family that “ you are blessed with a Vadher Girl”.

Turning on to the world affairs there is turmoil everywhere wars going on killings, rapes, unrests and only bad makes news. One good thing has happened that is Mr. Modi has won the election in India and he has vowed to re-establish the values of our old culture, traditions, religion and our true history.
